:: BOYS HOCKEY - 2010 JRPC

Junior Regional Performance Centre at UWE, Bristol
Three boys from Marlborough were selected from the Wiltshire County teams to attend the JRPC training sessions in Bristol during this summer. Max Jarmey (U/16), Will Seward (U/15) and John Duffy (U/15) enjoyed the opportunity to join up with around 20 other top players from Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Avon and Somerset in their age groups, to train with some of the best coaches in the area.

There were six sessions through the summer with Max and Will being selected for their respective age groups in an inter-centre competition that took place over two weekends in September.

Bristol competed against squads from Exeter and Eastleigh (Hampshire).

From this competition a squad of sixteen players was selected to represent Wessex Leopards, one of four regional squads, at England Hockey’s HiPAC weekend (8th – 10th October) at the National Sports Centre at Lilleshall. This High Performance Assessment Camp was designed to replicate the type of intensive training weekend that prospective international players would experience.

Will was selected to attend this training camp, a fantastic opportunity to develop his hockey skills and understand what level of training and commitment is required to make it to the top.

Well done to all three boys.
