Marlborough (B) 0 - 8 West Wilts (B) - Saturday 21 November
A depleted side took on West Wilts with the rain lashing down in Warminster. With 6 juniors, 2 thirty-somethings, one forty-something and 2 in their 50s we were always up against it and would have to display true character for a victory. The team united, with fluid play in the first half with Marlborough retaining position, using the width and playing the better hockey. However, we failed to capitalise and were punished for it.
Going in to half time 3-0 down didn't reflect the possession, so all still to play for in the 2nd half.
We tired and, lost some shape at which point the flood-gates opened giving West Wilts the momentum leading to several well taken goals that Tom tried valiantly to save. Despite their goals we still played well, with our hearts on our sleeves so despite the scoreline I was proud of the team and the way we conducted ourselves.
Particular mention to Will Seward who showed utter commitment to the cause. - AS
